DoonRoutes - Dehradun City Bus Routes

This is my first blog and I am describing in this all about DoonRoutes which is all about putting online the Dehradun City Bus Routes.


I came first to the Dehradun - "City of  Love" in the year 2013 and what I found was that it's really a bit hectic to search and use public transports in this city (for the first time visitor). Even though this city has really cool means of transport and all are connected, you can visit the each and every location of the city using public transport. But, what makes it "hectic" is that there is no online data or any public information regarding their routes. You have no other option than asking strangers about the routes and it's pretty appreciable 'coz the people out here are really helpful. The best thing I like in them is that even if they don't know you and in the first meet they will call you "Bhai" and after see off "Bhai ko yaad rakhiyo". That kind of affection you won't get in most of the cities of India.

So, I decided to make the travelling easier and tried to put my little effort in contributing the development of "City of Love" and I designed the website DoonRoutes where you can get all the city bus routes in just one click. Suppose you have to go to Rajpur Road from Selaqui, then there's not a direct route but with the help of this website you can get the route detail with the total fare of your journey. You can also book hotels in Dehradun using this website. This service has been incorporated with our travel partner - HelloTravel.com.

Again it's not easy to design such website in this city as you never gonna find the city bus Route Charts. Whenever you will ask the conductor of the bus about this Route Chart or Kiraya Suchi, they will start making excuses like "kaha ka janna h aapko", "hume sab yaad hai", and the most common one - "lgaya tha, fat fut gya". But somehow I managed to get these route charts and the persons being there with me is my project mate - Vatsalya Kishore and my senior - Mayur Kandwal.
